In 1957, my father and master photographer, Jerry Pryma, had a vision - to build a state of the art photography studio. From his vision came Academy Photo Studio, located in the heart of downtown Edmonton. Jerry was a 30-year member of the Professional Photographers of America (1956 - 1986) where he studied under the greats like Joe Zeltzman and Bill Stockwell.
Academy Photo Studio was a family owned and operated business with one thing in mind - family. My father always treated clients like his own family, with the upmost respect and dignity. He also gave the best quality product at competitive prices. These values are at the core of what Pryma Photography is today. I was born and raised in the business, apprenticed under my father, and at age 14, he bought me my first professional camera - a Hasselblad 500 CM, the camera of the pros. His trust in me, faith in my ability and confidence that I could represent the family business is what gave me the confidence I needed to embark on a career of professional photography. Although dad passed in 1986, I proudly continue his legacy though Pryma Photography - and honour my father and his teachings by creating lasting images for my clients. |
